MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russia and China intend to expand cooperation in the gas sector, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
When asked by journalists on Wednesday to comment on media reports that at the talks in Moscow on Tuesday Chinese President Xi Jinping "did not give his explicit agreement to increasing Russian gas supplies", Peskov said, "They do not name any sources, they simply look like low-quality fake stories. The reality is totally different. The expanding [of cooperation] was discussed."
"By the way, yesterday, on the day of the talks, Gazprom, in actual fact, surpassed the historical record for daily pipeline gas deliveries to China. And you know that Power of Siberia-2 was also discussed actively, and it was said in the statement to the media that all details, all formalities with the Mongolian side have already been agreed, this route will transit Mongolia. That is why, there are plans to further broaden cooperation in this field," Peskov said.
