MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Artyom Uss, son of Krasnoyarsk territory Governor Alexander Uss, might be included in a list for a potential prisoner exchange between Russia and the United States, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"Everything is possible," Ryabkov said in reply to a relevant question from Interfax.
As reported earlier, Italy granted a U.S. request for Uss's extradition.
"The thing is, as far as I know, the Americans did not display an interest in returning some of their citizens at earlier stages of discussions of such issues. Again, there's some degree of typical American slyness here," he said.
U.S. representatives "have uttered loud phrases that they fight for each of their citizens, but in reality, certain exchange arrangements for some of their people who are imprisoned here, including on severe counts, seems to be of no or little interest to them," he said.
"Therefore, I don't know what Mr. Uss's fate might be. I hope he'll come back home this way or another, but generally speaking, there are simply no reasons to speak of anything as regards some exchanges," he said.
"We have always fought and will fight for everyone by providing them with consular support and defending his or her interests in every possible way. Definitely, this applies to Mr. Uss, as well," he said.
