MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has said Russia will set up an air defense division and brigade, an air defense and missile defense special operations brigade, and an air defense regiment with the S-350 system in 2023.
"By the end of the year, 33 major organizational activities are scheduled to take place. This includes the formation of an air defense division and brigade, an air defense and missile defense special operations brigade, an anti-aircraft missile regiment with the S-350 system and a military transport air regiment," Shoigu said at a Russian Defense Ministry board meeting on Wednesday.
"We will put the Razvyazka space monitoring station on combat duty," he said.
Shoigu said the construction of 621 military infrastructure facilities for the Aerospace Forces' needs would also be completed this year.
"Under the state armament program, 507 pieces of military hardware will be delivered to the Aerospace Forces this year," the defense minister said.
"The share of advanced types of weapons of the Aerospace Forces will reach 85% by the end of the year, which meets the set pace of development and ensures the accomplishment of priority tasks in all areas," Shoigu said.
