Russia extradites Turk suspected of dealing heroin

MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - A Turkish man wanted for drug dealing has been extradited to his home country, Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said.

"Today, at the Vnukovo International Airport, law enforcement representatives from the Republic of Turkey were handed a Turkish citizen, Toi Ismet. He was wanted for committing crimes involving illicit circulation of narcotics," Volk told journalists on Thursday.

According to the ministry, in July 2013, police in Turkey arrested several people involved in drug trafficking. Turkish law enforcers established that the suspects had bought heroin from their fellow citizen, Ismet, who subsequently fled investigation.

Ismet was declared internationally wanted in July 2022. He was apprehended a month later in Moscow.

Ismet was handed over to Turkish counterparts by officers from the ministry's Interpol National Central Bureau and Federal Penitentiary Service, Volk said.
