Tank battalion holds live-fire exercise at training range near border with Lithuania - Belarusian Defense Ministry

MINSK. March 23 (Interfax) - A mechanized brigade's battalion conducted a live-fire exercise during tactical drills at a training range near the border with Lithuania, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"One of the battalions of the 6th separate guards mechanized brigade held company tactical drills involving a live-fire exercise at the Gozhsky training range [near the city of Grodno]," the Defense Ministry said.

During the exercise, the battalion's personnel practiced artillery-backed defensive maneuvers, it said.

"The tanks were reinforced by motorized rifle and separate grenade launcher units. Air defense was provided by a Tunguska air defense missile and gun system," the ministry said.

During a battle simulation, a battery of 2S1 self-propelled howitzers fired at individual targets and conducted standing barrage fire. Drones also took part in the exercise, the ministry said.
