Russian ambassador in London: Bilateral economic ties with UK almost at 'zero' level now

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - The results of economic ties between Russia and the United Kingdom in 2022 were almost "zero", Russian Ambassador in London Andrei Kelin said.

"Our general feeling is that, indeed, our bilateral economic ties with the United Kingdom dropped effectively to 'zero' based on the results of last year," Kelin said in an interview published in the Izvestia newspaper on Friday.

"New data with regard to last year should be expected by summer. But it is known that the UK reduced imports from Russia by 97%, and almost 100% in hydrocarbons, by June 2022. Exports from here to our country declined by 90%. The exceptions were purchases of British medical and pharmacological products that were not targeted by sanctions," he said.
