Lawyers confirm Calvey, Delpal have left Russia (Part 2)

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - Michael Calvey, the founder of the Baring Vostok investment company, and its operational partner Philippe Delpal have left Russia, their lawyers said at the Moscow City Court on Friday.

"Calvey plans to attend a court hearing, but considering the difficulties in getting a visa in the current circumstances, it's hard for him to arrive," Calvey's lawyer Timofei Gridnev said at the court.

Delpal's lawyer made an identical statement.

A source told Interfax earlier that Calvey and Delpal had departed Russia for the U.S. and France immediately after restraint measures were lifted from them.

The Moscow City Court is expected to hear an appeal on Friday against the sentence in the case dealing with the misappropriation of the Vostochny Bank's assets, in which seven people, including Calvey and Delpal, have been convicted.

Only one of the seven people convicted in the case, Maxim Vladimirov, appeared in the courtroom on Friday.
