MINSK. March 24 (Interfax) - A new air defense missile regiment formed in Belarus on the border with Ukraine is equipped with S-300 surface-to-air missile systems, the Belarus 1 state television channel said on Thursday.
"The head of state recently met with senior security officials. Details of the operation to neutralize a terrorist in the Grodno region were unveiled. A little earlier, special operations forces prevented a sabotage attempt in Machulishchi. Against the backdrop of all those events, an air defense missile regiment, which is equipped with S-300 system, was formed in Belarus," the TV channel said.
On Thursday, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said that a new air defense missile regiment had been formed in the town of Luninets in Belarus's Brest region near the border with Ukraine.
