SUKHUM. March 24 (Interfax) - A joint tactical exercise of units of the Abkhaz and Russian armed forces is taking place in the Republic of Abkhazia, the press service of Abkhazia's Defense Ministry reported on Friday.
This is a defensive exercise aimed at ensuring Abkhaz security, it said.
The scale of the exercise involves combined-arms operations conducted jointly with various Abkhaz armed services at the same time at all training ranges and on unfamiliar terrain, it said.
The troops are practicing the use of reconnaissance and attack drones, radio-electronic means of defense against analogous enemy weapons.
"For the first time in an exercise, an information-telecommunications troop-control system was tested for guaranteed resilience. Overall, the tactical drill was a practice of the dynamic nature of modern warfare," the press service said.
