NATO monitoring situation amid Russia's plans to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus - rep

BRUSSELS. March 27 (Interfax) - NATO is closely monitoring the situation in the context of Russia's statements on the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus, NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu said.

"NATO is vigilant. We are closely monitoring the situation and we have not seen any changes in Russia's nuclear posture that would lead us to adjust our own," Lungescu said on a social network on Sunday.

"NATO allies act with full respect of their international commitments," she said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 25 he had agreed with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
