Japan can conduct offensive operations - Russian Security Council secretary

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - Japan is capable of conducting offensive operations, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.

"Washington has pushed Tokyo toward a new militarization. The Japan Self-Defense Forces are transforming into a full-fledged army capable of conducting offensive operations," Patrushev said in an interview published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

"This has already been confirmed legally by Japanese law, which in fact grossly violates one of the most important WWII outcomes," he said.

Japan is placing an emphasis on attack weapons, he said.

"You get the impression that someone is again trying to turn the island state's residents into kamikazes dying for someone else's interests," he said.
