Shoigu inspects fulfillment of state defense orders at plants in 2 Russian regions - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has inspected the fulfillment of state defense orders at plants in the Chelyabinsk and Kirov regions and has ordered that production be ramped up, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The defense minister has inspected workshops of enterprises directly involved in the production of military goods for the special military operation," the ministry said.

According to the ministry, Shoigu checked the work of automated lines manufacturing artillery, tank and mortar munitions of various calibers and unguided air-launched missiles.

"Plant heads briefed Sergei Shoigu on the fulfillment of state defense orders and projects carried out by the enterprises to upgrade and expand workshops and to boost labor productivity," the ministry said.

"The implementation of these projects has allowed enterprises to increase manifold the output of ammunition in order to meet the needs of Russian forces. The output of certain kinds of products will grow seven to eight times by the end of this year," it said.

A meeting held at the end of the working visit "set targets for further enlargement of production of the entire range of manufactured products in accordance with the state defense orders' schedule," the ministry said.
