PARIS. March 28 (Interfax) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said he might travel farther to Russia after visiting the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.
Associated Press quoted Grossi as saying that he would "most probably" travel to Russia "in the coming days."
Grossi said at the end of last week that he was planning to visit the Zaporozhye NPP to assess nuclear safety levels. Another goal of his trip is to ensure the continuation and to improve regular rotation of IAEA personnel at the site. The visit was scheduled for March 29. Grossi earlier visited the Zaporozhye NPP on September 1, 2022.
He said on Monday he had visited the Dnieper HPP and met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
The Zaporozhye NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, operates six VVER-1000 reactor units. According to the updated information, two of them are operational, but in hot shutdown mode only for heat supply. The plant has not produced electricity since September 11, 2022.
