Kremlin does not think it has right to advise Xi on meeting with Zelensky

MOSCOW. March 29 (Interfax) - Chinese President Xi Jinping can make his own decision whether he should meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, while the Kremlin cannot give any advice in this case, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Journalists told Peskov at a press briefing on Wednesday that Zelensky said he was ready to meet with Xi, and asked whether the Kremlin believed the meeting could be useful for a Ukrainian settlement.

"We are aware of China's balanced position. We value it highly, and believe that the Chinese leader makes independent decisions about the expediency of particular contacts, while we are not entitled to give any advice," Peskov said.
