MOSCOW. March 29 (Interfax) - Moscow does not view the Summit for Democracy hosted by the United States as "a serious event," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists asked Peskov on Wednesday what goal the event pursued in his opinion, and noted that countries "close to Russia, for instance, Armenia" would be there.
"No matter what, America keeps aspiring to the role of a global teacher on matters of so-called democracy. This is its second attempt to gather a number of countries like pupils, and to lecture them. As for those who want to attend the class, it's their sovereign business," Peskov said.
However, attempts to divide countries into first- and second-rate ones are interpreted by many "with a smile," he said.
"Indeed, it can hardly be classified as a serious event," Peskov said.
