IAEA delegation arrives at Zaporozhye NPP (Part 2)

ENERGODAR. March 29 (Interfax) - A delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrived at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant in Energodar on Wednesday afternoon, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The motorcade entered the plant's premises at 12:30 p.m.

It was initially planned that the delegation would arrive at the plant at around 10 a.m. and would spend no more than seven hours there.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi is leading the delegation. He plans to assess nuclear safety and security levels and to ensure regular rotation of the IAEA personnel stationed at the site. The delegation has 18 members.

The visit began with a meeting between the IAEA delegation, the plant management, including Zaporozhye NPP Director Yury Chernichuk, and the Rosenergoatom head's advisor Renat Karchaa.

After the meeting, the delegation will be shown the mitigated impact of Ukrainian attacks, and the results of the work to enhance plant security. It will be shown tanks with turbine and transformer oil, a nitrogen-oxygen station, spray pools, a nuclear waste storage facility, and other facilities that had to be restored. The delegation will also be shown the operation of radiation, chemical and biological protection vehicles.
