Russian-U.S. Launch Notification Agreement of 1988 still valid - deputy FM

MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax) - The Russian-U.S. Agreement on Notifications of Launches of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles (Ballistic Missile Launch Notification Agreement) of 1988 remains valid, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

"Of course, we have said this," Ryabkov told reporters.

"We suspended every kind of information exchange, as well as other elements of verification activity deriving from the New START Treaty within the treaty's framework, but as we said back in February, the Russian Federation will voluntarily honor the principal qualitative limits on strategic weapons set by the treaty, and will continue to fulfil the Ballistic Missile Launch Notification Agreement of 1988," he said.
