MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax) - The Kremlin condemns the Ukrainian authorities' conduct in the situation around the Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We strongly condemn these actions and the pressure on clerics and the church," Peskov told reporters.
"If they are evicted from the lavra, everything will depend on their decision and what they do next. I have no doubt that no one in Russia will remain indifferent to their fate, if necessary," Peskov said when asked whether options are being considered in case the clerics are evicted from the Lavra.
On Wednesday, the Kiev Commercial Court opened proceedings on the Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra's lawsuit against the national reserve of the same name, which unilaterally terminated the Lavra rental agreement with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on March 29.
A preparatory hearing was scheduled for April 26.
