Russia's new foreign policy concept envisages symmetric, asymmetric response to unfriendly actions - Lavrov

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Russia's new foreign policy concept envisages the possible use of the Russian Armed Forces to prevent an attack on Russia and its allies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"The concept envisages possible symmetric and asymmetric responses to unfriendly actions against Russia," Lavrov said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council.

"It introduces the idea of using the Armed Forces to deter or prevent an armed attack on Russia and its allies. In this way, we clearly state that we will defend the right of the Russian people to its existence and free development," Lavrov said.
