Russia's Baltic Fleet drills group launches with Iskander missile systems

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The Iskander-M mobile short-range ballistic missile systems practiced launching solo and group strikes in the Kaliningrad region, the Baltic Fleet said Friday.

"The missile troops carried out mock (electronic) solo and group launches against targets simulating enemy command posts," the statement said.

"The Iskander-M missile crews practiced missile reloading onto launchers, overcoming a contaminated part of terrain, and repelling a mock sabotage-reconnaissance group," it said.

The Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile system was developed by the Kolomna-based Machine-Building Design Bureau of Rostec's High-Precision Systems Holding. The Russian Armed Forces use two types of Iskander missiles - ballistic and cruise versions. Official reports have stated that the system has a top range of 500 kilometers.
