Russian Navy chief commander inspects military construction in Far East

MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - The Russian Navy's chief commander Nikolai Yevmenov has inspected progress in the construction of military infrastructure and the execution of the state defense order on a working trip to Russia's Far East, the Defense Ministry said Friday.

"Admiral Yevmenov visited Vladivostok, Bolshoi Kamen in the Primorsky Territory, and Vilyuchinsk in the Kamchatka region. He evaluated the construction process, heard reports from local [officials in charge] and demanded that contractors stick to the deadlines for completion of the military infrastructure," the statement said.

The admiral inspected the construction of new submarine base systems and held a working meeting at a garrison of the Pacific Fleet underwater forces.

Efforts continue in Kamchatka to create and develop a comprehensive basing system for ballistic missile submarines and last-generation multirole nuclear powered submarines, the ministry said.
