Belarus has enough troops to protect border - State Border Committee head

MINSK. April 3 (Interfax) - Belarus has enough troops to protect the border, Belarusian State Border Committee head Anatoly Lappo said on the ONT television channel on Sunday.

"We have a sufficient contingent to protect the border," Lappo said.

The Belarusian border is always open to people with good intentions, he said.

Today, the main task of border guards is to react to possible Ukrainian provocations with a cool head, Lappo said.

"We have never guarded the border with a country engulfed in hostilities before. The primary task of border guards is not to yield to provocations," he said.

Ukrainians keep trying to provoke Belarusian border guards, he added.

"They launch drones, and we have and will continue shooting them down, make obscene gestures, or damage the shared border infrastructure," Lappo said.
