Russian Yars strategic missile systems end exercise in Siberia

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Strategic Missile Forces have finalized a command-post exercise of the Novosibirsk Missile Formation operating Yars road-mobile systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"The Novosibirsk Formation of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces has accomplished a broad range of assignments and missions during the command-post exercise, including intensive maneuvering on combat patrol routes," the ministry said on Telegram.

"Yars road-mobile missile systems trained marches of up to 100 kilometers, dispersal, change of field positions, engineering equipment, camouflage and protection in combat," it said.

The troops also trained deterrence of reconnaissance-and-sabotage groups, it said.

"Under the maneuvers, missile detachments and units practiced dispersal in a forest to increase the invisibility of Yars systems," the ministry said.

"Support units facilitated redeployment from 'chemically contaminated' areas," it said.

The exercise involved over 3,000 troops and about 300 pieces of hardware, the ministry said. "The command-post exercise of the Novosibirsk Missile Formation demonstrated a high level of combat training of the formation and professionalism of its personnel," it said.
