Russian Defense Ministry reports intensive operations in Donetsk, Krasny Liman sectors

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - Russia's southern and central groups of forces are continuing intensive operations in the Donetsk and Krasny Liman sectors while striking Ukrainian troops in other areas, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"In the Donetsk sector, active operations by units from the southern group of forces along with artillery fire killed up to 285 Ukrainian troops and mercenaries and destroyed one tank, three infantry combat vehicles, two armored personnel carriers, one armored combat vehicle, eight trucks, two pickup trucks, a Grad multiple rocket launcher, four D-30 howitzers and two ammo depots over the past day," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Monday.

"In the Krasny Liman sector, strikes by attack planes and artillery fire combined with active operations by units from the central group of forces hit Ukrainian troops and hardware near Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic," he said.

Ukrainian forces lost up to 50 troops, two armored combat vehicles, a pickup truck and a D-30 howitzer in that area, Konashenkov said.

"In the Kupyansk sector, aviation and artillery of the western group of forces hit the adversary near Sinkovka in the Kharkov region and Artyomovka in the Lugansk People's Republic," he said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 75 troops, two armored combat vehicles, two trucks and a D-30 howitzer there, Konashenkov said.

"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, aircraft and artillery of the eastern group of forces hit Ukrainian units near Novomikhailovka and Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic," he said.

"In those areas, the enemy lost up to 45 Ukrainian troops, two pickup trucks, a D-30 howitzer, and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system during the day," Konashenkov said.

In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed up to ten Ukrainian troops, and destroyed two trucks and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer, he added.
