Russian warplanes taking part in drills over Kaliningrad region

MOSCOW. April 4 (Interfax) - The Sukhoi Su-24M frontline bombers and Su-30SM multirole fighters have practiced missile bombing on surface targets at a training range in the Kaliningrad region, Russia's Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Tuesday.

"During a planned tactical flight exercise, the crews of Su-24M frontline bombers and Su-30SM and Su-30SM2 multirole fighters from the Fleet's naval aviation unit practiced the task of carrying out missile bombing strikes against overwater targets in the naval training sections of the Baltic Sea," the statement said.

"In total, the exercise involved up to 15 bombers and multirole fighters from a mixed air regiment of the Baltic Fleet's naval aviation unit, and also a flight of Su-27 fighters," it said.

The aircraft practiced strikes on a squadron of mock enemy ships imitated by "warships and support vessels of the Baltic Fleet," it said.
