Russian Pacific Fleet's landing ship holds artillery drill off coast of Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. April 5 (Interfax) - The Nikolai Vilkov landing ship of the Russian Pacific Fleet has fired artillery at coastal targets and naval mine mockups in the Peter the Great Gulf, the fleet press service said on Wednesday.

"The ship artillery destroyed a coastal target imitating a mock enemy's command post and completed a training mission of setting up aerosol screen to cover its departure," the press service said.

Artillery commanders passed the test of firing at floating mine mockups.

The ship suppressed coastal targets and practiced the full sequence of artillery support for troops landing on unequipped beach.

The drill was held at a maritime range consistent with the fleet's combat training plan.
