Russian forces put a stop to operations of 8 Ukrainian recon groups in various areas - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - Russian forces have put an end to the operations of eight Ukrainian reconnaissance-and-sabotage groups in the Kupyansk, southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"The operations of five Ukrainian reconnaissance-and-sabotage groups have been stopped in the vicinity of Novosyolovskoye, Rozovka and Artyomovka in the Lugansk People's Republic and Masyutovka and Pershotravnevoye in the Kharkov region [in the Kupyansk sector]," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

The activity of three similar groups was ended near Vladimirovka, Mirnoye and Nikolskoye in the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, he said.

"The battalion command and observation posts of the 110th Mechanized Brigade and the 95th Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were hit near Lastochkino and Novomikhailovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.

In all, Russian forces hit 89 Ukrainian artillery units at their firing positions, as well as troops and hardware in 112 areas over the past 24 hours, he said.
