MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - Russian troops and border guards have foiled an attempt by a Ukrainian military sabotage group to cross into the Bryansk region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said on Thursday.
"This morning, at around 8:30 a.m., the units guarding the national border of the Western Military District, jointly with a border patrol team from the FSB [Federal Security Service] border directorate for the Bryansk region, foiled an attempt by a Ukrainian Armed Forces sabotage-reconnaissance group, numbering over 15 militants, to infiltrate the Russian Federation near the village of Sluchayevsk in the Bryansk region," Konashenkov told a briefing on Thursday.
During the ensuing clash, the Ukrainians were struck with Western Military District artillery, he said.
"The group dispersed and, having sustained losses, retreated into Ukraine. There were no losses among Russian service personnel," Konashenkov said.
