Major scientific expedition of Russian Emergency Situations Ministry ends in Salekhard

SALEKHARD. April 7 (Interfax) - A major scientific expedition has come to an end in Salekhard, advisor to the Russian emergency situations minister Daniil Martynov said on Friday.

"An Arctic expedition of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is now over. The personnel are fine, and every vehicle is serviceable," Martynov said.

The ministry's Ilyushin Il-76 plane and helicopters escorted the convoy at the final stage of the expedition, an Interfax correspondent said in a report.

The ministry carried out a major scientific expedition in the Arctic between March 26 and April 7 as part of the Safe Arctic 2023 interagency exercise. Over 70 expedition participants covered distances of more than 1,600 kilometers in the Republic of Komi and the Nenets and Yamal-Nenets autonomous districts for 12 days.
