Russian Defense Ministry reports intensive operations by southern group of forces, strikes on Ukrainian army in some other areas

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - Russian forces are continuing active operations against the Ukrainian army in a number of areas, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"In the Donetsk sector, active operations by units from the southern group of forces, combined with artillery fire, have destroyed three tanks, an infantry combat vehicle, three armored combat vehicles, eight trucks, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and Msta-B and D-20 howitzers, and have killed about 260 Ukrainian troops during the day," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Friday.

"In the Kupyansk sector, aircraft and artillery from the western group of forces hit Ukrainian troops near Sinkovka and Kislovka in the Kharkov region," he said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 30 troops, two trucks and a D-30 howitzer there, Konashenkov said.

"In the Krasny Liman sector, strikes by attack planes, artillery fire, and intensive operations by units from the central group of forces defeated the enemy near Terny in the Donetsk People's Republic," he said.

"The enemy lost more than 50 Ukrainian soldiers, alongside two armored combat vehicles, one pickup truck, a Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and a D-30 howitzer," Konashenkov said.

"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, aircraft and artillery from the eastern group of forces hit Ukrainian units near Novomikhailovka and Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic," he said.

In those areas, the Ukrainian army lost up to 20 troops, two pickup trucks, and a D-20 howitzer during the day.

"In the Kherson sector, gunfire killed 13 Ukrainian troops and destroyed two trucks, two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, and an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system in the past 24 hours," Konashenkov said.
