Ex-military service members in new territories to get pensions based on Russian norms starting July 1 - Mishustin

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - Residents of Russia's new regions, i.e. the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, who are serving in the military or other identical forces will later receive pensions based on Russian norms, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"We're continuing the integration of the new regions into our legal framework under the president's instructions. And today we'll consider legislation introducing special regulations for providing pension support to those residents who have served in the military or other identical forces, as well as their family members," Mishustin said at a government meeting on Friday.

"The document stipulates that they will be entitled to this support starting July 1 this year, for which they'll have to submit an application," Mishustin said.

The bill envisions special terms for calculating the duration of their service record, he said.

"I am speaking about former military service members and officials of law enforcement, prosecution, customs, and other agencies," he said.

He urged agencies in charge of pension support of residents of the new regions to attach particular significance to the matter.

The residents of Russia's new regions have started to receive common Russian social support packages from March 1.
