MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has checked the fulfillment of government defense orders by enterprises in the Tula region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Enterprise heads briefed Sergei Shoigu on the implementation of programs for ramping up manufacturing capacities to supply Russian forces with the entire range of weapons in production," the ministry said.
Shoigu inspected the workshops of the Ganichev SPLAV enterprise and the Imperial Tula Arms Plant, which manufacture modern weapons, the ministry said.
He was given a tour of workshops making ammunition for multiple rocket launchers, and automated production lines assembling anti-tank guided missiles and artillery munitions, the ministry said.
"According to reports from the heads of defense plants, the new and future weapons and military hardware demonstrated to the Russian defense minister have been put into mass production. Their output is being increased, owing to the implementation of cutting-edge technologies," it said.
In addition, Shoigu had a meeting with Tula Governor Alexei Dyumin and the heads of enterprises and respective military commands.
The meetings addressed relevant issues and instructions given by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the heads of defense plants in Tula last week, the ministry said.
The meeting chaired by Shoigu mapped out methods and mechanisms for promptly resolving key problems, in order to ensure the smooth operation of regional defense plants.
"The Russian defense minister drew the attention of the plant managers to the Defense Ministry's readiness to actively and rapidly help resolve any problems in the fulfillment of government defense orders in cooperative schemes," the ministry said.
