Moscow intends to draw int'l community's attention to U.S. bio labs - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Moscow will continue to draw the international community's attention to illegal operations of American biological laboratories, including those in Ukraine, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

Journalists asked Peskov whether President Vladimir Putin is familiar with the final report by the State Duma's commission investigating U.S. bio labs in Ukraine and how Russia plans to use the findings. Peskov said, "Certainly, the head of state has been informed of this report. As to how it will be used, we should do our utmost to draw the global community's attention to this illegal activity pursued by the United States."

The Duma endorsed the final report presented by its commission investigating U.S. biological labs in Ukraine on Tuesday.

Deputy Duma Chair Irina Yarovaya, who co-chairs the commission, said in her report that the parliamentary investigation was initiated by Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.

"Over the past year, we have done a lot of work. Hundreds of documents and various sources of information have been examined. We have correlated many facts, but we have also been able to identify witnesses, whom we interviewed and who gave us invaluable information on how the work of biological laboratories was actually organized in Ukraine," she said.

The parliamentary commission's final report on the operations of U.S. bio labs in Ukraine will be sent to all countries around the world, as well as to the Russian president and the Investigative Committee, she said.

Summing up the matter, Volodin said, "A lot of work has been done, and evidence has been collected. Let's do our utmost to make sure that the conclusions and decisions made today are implemented."
