MINSK. April 12 (Interfax) - Territorial defense forces have drilled repelling an attack by a sabotage and reconnaissance group near Minsk, the press service for the Belarusian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"An active stage of the staff exercise took place was on the 227th all-arms firing range [Borisovsky district, Minsk region] as part of an inspection of the readiness level of the Minsk region territorial defense," the statement said.
"One of the stages involved repelling an attack by a sabotage and reconnaissance group on a checkpoint. Reservists together weigh Interior Ministry officials successfully accomplished the mission," it said.
The inspection of the readiness level of the Minsk region's territorial defense led by Belarusian General Staff Chief, Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Gulevich has been underway in the Minsk region's Borisovsky district since March 20.
The inspection will assess the work of officials of the region's and the Borisovsky district's executive committees to lead a territorial troops formation and to achieve combat training tasks. The military units of the territorial forces will drill protecting vital infrastructure and enforcing martial law together with law enforcement agencies.
