MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Russia has conducted 100 consecutive accident-free space launches for the first time in contemporary history, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"It is good that our rocket and space industry is consistently increasing its potential. One hundred accident-free launches have been conducted consecutively for the first time in contemporary history. This is a very good indicator that the industry is confidently standing on its own feet," Putin said at an event devoted to Cosmonautics Day on Wednesday.
Russia will continue to explore space, the president said.
"We will definitely work in this area. To us, this [represents] advanced technologies that the Earth needs, a qualitatively different scale of development for our science and economy, [and] a reliable level of national security in line with the times," he said.
The path to technological sovereignty lies through the revival of the best educational traditions, he said.
"Using advanced solutions, we need to create our own products which will fulfil the dreams of the younger generation for [new] discoveries," Putin said.
He wished space industry workers success and achievements.
"I am confident that all plans will be achieved. We will respond appropriately to all challenges," the president said.
