MINSK. April 14 (Interfax) - The full sequence of a mechanized formation's shift from peace to a wartime posture will be trained during a readiness check of the Belarusian Armed Forces, the Belarusian Defense Ministry's press service said.
"A formation of the Western Operative Command is being prepared to accomplish missions. The full sequence of a mechanized formation's shift from peace to wartime footing is being practiced," the ministry said.
The admission of mobilization resources has been finalized, it said.
"The formation has grown to 6,000 men. Weapons and military and special hardware have been removed from storage," the ministry said.
Some units marched to designated areas, built infrastructure in the rear, prepared weapons and military hardware for use, and began shakedown through drills, it said.
At the final stage of the check, the formation will take part in a brigade tactical exercise, and Belarusian Defense Minister Lieut. Gen. Viktor Khrenin will inspect the check progress.
The readiness check of the Belarusian Armed Forces began on April 3 on the orders from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The check aims to assess the Belarusian Armed Forces' ability to accomplish missions in a fluid environment.
