Russian Defense Ministry reports terminating activities of 5 Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in Kharkov region

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Russian forces have put a stop to the activities of five sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkov region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"The activities of five Ukrainian Armed Forces sabotage and reconnaissance groups were terminated near Olshana, Krakhmalnoye, and Timkovka of the Kharkov region," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Friday.

"In the Kupyansk sector, aircraft and artillery of the western group of forces struck Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Lugansk People's Republic and the Kharkov region," he said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 60 soldiers, two armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles, and two D-20 howitzers in this area, he said.

"In the Krasny Liman sector, tactical and army aircraft, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems of the central group of forces struck enemy units near Serebryanka in the Donetsk People's Republic and Chervonopopovka and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic," he said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 80 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two automobiles and a D-30 howitzer in this sector, he said.

"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, tactical and army aircraft and artillery of the eastern group of forces have struck enemy personnel and hardware near Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic and near Marfopol, Zaliznichnoye, Novoandreyevka and Kamenskoye in the Zaporozhye region," he said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 40 soldiers, two armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks, and two D-30 howitzers in this area over the past 24 hours, he said.
