YEREVAN. April 14 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to discuss how to settle Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
"The [two ministers] discussed regional security and stability issues. The ministers of foreign affairs exchanged views on how to settle relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, demarcate and secure the borders, unblock all economic and transport links in the region, and regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the Armenian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
"[Mirzoyan] described in detail the provocation carried out by the Azerbaijani armed forces on April 11 near the village of Tegh, [in the] Syunik district, Republic of Armenia, noting that it was yet another manifestation of Azerbaijan's generally aggressive policy," the statement said.
The pair also "touched on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from Azerbaijan blocking the Lachin corridor, which has now continued for four months. [The two sides] stressed the need to discontinue the blockade in accordance with the trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020," it said.
The ministers also discussed the countries' bilateral agenda.
On Friday, Samarkand hosted a meeting of the CIS foreign ministers' council.
