MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Copenhagen keeps refusing to interact with Moscow in the Nord Stream sabotage investigation and shows no interest in starting an independent international inquiry, Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said in an interview published by the newspaper Izvestia on Monday.
"Denmark states it is investigating the blasts of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. However, there is still no substantive information about the investigative procedures or any interim results. The Danish authorities keep refusing any interaction with the Russian side in this criminal case and show no interest in starting an independent international inquiry," Barbin said
As for resumed insurance of the Nord Stream gas pipelines announced by the German insurance companies Allianz and Munich Re, Barbin said that, "consistent with the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Danish authorities allowed Nord Stream 2 AG to examine the pipelines, including the sustained damage."
"It would be premature to discuss repairs of the pipelines just yet. Such an option, probably, could only be considered if European countries were interested in Russian gas supplies via this route," Barbin said.
