MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Strategic bombers from the Russian Pacific Fleet will fly to the central Pacific at the final stage of the fleet's surprise readiness check to train strikes on a mock enemy's groups of ships, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We will begin the final stage of the check on April 18, during which naval strike groups backed by coastal missile battalions will perform simulated missile strikes," Shoigu said.
"Strategic bombers will fly to the central Pacific to simulate strikes on a mock enemy's groups of ships," he said.
The fleet will also train detection and destruction of a mock enemy's submarines and groups of ships and will fire artillery at airborne and seaborne targets," Shoigu said.
