MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova said she has received over 18,000 appeals from evacuees from the special military operation zone, and that assistance has been provided to more than 9,000 people.
"We have received over 18,000 appeals from evacuees since February 18, when [the appeals] started coming in. Those 18,000 were filed last year, and several thousand more were lodged this year, including by more than 9,000 evacuees who were provided with assistance," Moskalkova said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society on Monday.
Moskalkova said in her presentation that the appeals granted related to compensation and other social benefits (over 5,500 appeals), explanations of Russian laws (over 1,300), and evacuation from zones under fire (more than 1,100).
