S-400 air defense missile systems deter simulated mass enemy strike - Russian Western Military District

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - S-400 air defense missile systems from the air defense formation of the Leningrad Air Force and Air Defense Army defeated a mock enemy during an exercise, the press service for the Russian Western Military District said on Monday.

"Combat units from the regiment's command post and two air defense missile battalions deterred a mass missile and artillery strike by highly maneuverable targets flying at low and very low altitudes, in simulated launches of guided air defense missiles," the press service said.

Information about airspace status in the training area was provided by the forces' own sources as well as the formation's radar units, it said.

The units also trained in organizing ground security, defense and camouflage for the air defense missile regiment's positions during the exercise.

The S-400 Triumf, a product of Almaz-Antey, is a long-range air defense missile system built to counter strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and other airborne weapons.
