MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Naval groups of the Baltic Naval Base will hold a missile and artillery firing exercise at drills in the Kaliningrad region, the fleet's said service said in a statement on Monday.
"Naval group of the Baltic Naval Base will perform missile and artillery firing practice in destroying the mock enemy's ships and aviation," the press service said.
The drill involves around 10 ships, motor boats and support vessels, over 1,500 personnel and more than 50 pieces of military and special hardware, aircraft and helicopters, it said.
"Bal and Bastion coastal-defense missile systems will destroy naval targets on the Kalingrad region coast," it said.
"The naval groups will jointly practice sailing in formation and repulsing mock enemy airstrikes by firing on aerial targets and conducting a mock sea battle," it said.
An underwater anti-sabotage detachment "will accomplish a range of core missions: protecting the Baltic Fleet ships and submarines and the base from sabotage and reconnaissance units of a probable enemy," it said.
This is a scheduled exercise within the framework of a test ending the winter training season, it said.
