MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russia calls for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan and its issues to be resolved through negotiation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
On April 17 Russia's Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received Sudanese Ambassador Mohammed Sirraj, the ministry's website stated.
The diplomats paid particular attention to the developments in Sudan in the context of ongoing armed clashes between regular army units and the Rapid Support Forces, the ministry said.
"The Russian side stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and resolution of possible disputes through negotiation, while emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of the Russian Embassy in Khartoum and of all Russian citizens in Sudan," the statement said.
