Putin visited Kherson region, LPR on Monday - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Kherson region and the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The visit took place yesterday." Peskov told reporters.

He was asked to comment on the assumptions that the president's visit took place several days before the corresponding footage was aired on television.

"It's true that the president said we were celebrating Easter when he presented an icon as a gift. But Easter lasts for 40 days. Especially as this is Easter week. [Some people] mistakenly latched on to this phrase and started making assumptions about what did not happen," Peskov said.

Reporters also asked Peskov whether the president had any particular reason to visit the regions.

"The president has been visiting the new regions more frequently. He is inspecting [military] staffs and is receiving up-to-date information about the special military operation's progress on the ground. That's important for the supreme commander-in-chief. This is how he does his job," Peskov said.
