State Duma passes amendment on denaturalization for discrediting Russian Armed Forces

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - The Russian State Duma passed on Tuesday an amendment that stipulates denaturalization for public actions that discredit the Russian Armed Forces' actions in the interests of Russia, its citizens and international peace and security, as well as the functions carried out by Russian authorities and assistance given by volunteer units, entities or individuals in the Russian Armed Forces' operations.

Violating Russia's territorial integrity may also be punished by denaturalization, the amendment says.

Another amendment that was approved stipulates denaturalization for carrying out the activities of a foreign or international non-governmental organization that has been designated as undesirable in Russia.

The amendments were passed during the second reading of the presidential bill on citizenship.
