Russian forces destroy 2 Ukrainian army depots in Zaporozhye region

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Two Ukrainian ammo depots have been destroyed in the Zaporozhye region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"Two ammo depots have been destroyed in the vicinity of Gulyaipole and Chervonaya Krinitsa in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, tactical planes, army aviation, artillery and heavy flamethrowers from the eastern group of forces hit hostile units near Ugledar and Novopol in the Donetsk People's Republic and Malaya Tokmachka and Poltavka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 30 servicemen, alongside three infantry fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks and a D-20 howitzer in that area over the past day, he said.

In the Kupyansk sector, attack planes, army aviation and artillery from the western group of forces hit hostile units in the Kharkov region, Konashenkov said.

"The operations of two Ukrainian sabotage-and-reconnaissance groups were suppressed near Sinkovka in the Kharkov region and Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People's Republic," he said.

The Ukrainian army lost up to 35 troops, one tank, two armored combat vehicles, two trucks, two U.S.-made M109 Paladin self-propelled howitzers, and a D-20 howitzer there in the past 24 hours, Konashenkov said.

"In the Krasny Liman sector, aviation and artillery from the central group of forces hit hostile units near Chervonaya Dibrova and Chervonopopovka in the Lugansk People's Republic, and Terny and Grigorovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," he said.

The Ukrainian army lost more than 80 troops and two armored combat vehicles in that area, Konashenkov said.

"In the Kherson region, gunfire killed more than 25 Ukrainian troops and destroyed three trucks, a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, and two D-30 howitzers during the past 24 hours," he said.
