Poland starts building electronic barrier on border with Russia's Kaliningrad region

MINSK. April 18 (Interfax) - Poland announced that it had begun construction of an electronic barrier on its border with Russia's Kaliningrad region on Tuesday.

"The installation of an electronic barrier on the border with the Kaliningrad region began this morning. The barrier is due to be installed by September 30 of this year alongside the entire land border with the Russian Federation," the Polish Border Guard said on a social network.

"The electronic barrier on the Polish-Russian border will be almost 200 kilometers long, and will include 2,000 camera posts, 3,000 surveillance cameras, and 700 kilometers of power, transmission and detection cables. At the same time, a surveillance center is under construction in the city of Ketrzyn," it said.
