CHISINAU. April 19 (Interfax) - Moldova will declare one Russian diplomat persona non grata and will strip another two of accreditation with Chisinau International Airport, press secretary for the Moldovan government Daniel Vode said.
He explained that the decision was related to the behavior of Russian diplomats at Chisinau Airport on April 17, when Moldovan border guards denied entry to Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov, designated as unwelcome in Moldova.
"Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov will be invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration today to be presented with the corresponding note from the ministry. Two Russian diplomats breached the norms of behavior at Chisinau Airport. They have been deprived of the corresponding accreditation. For the same reason, one diplomat will be declared persona non grata in Moldova," Vode said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean has called any visits by Russian officials to Moldova unacceptable as long as hostilities in Ukraine are ongoing. He made the statement at a government meeting on Wednesday when commenting on Chisinau's decision to deny admission to Minnikhanov.
