BAKU. April 19 (Interfax) - U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy for Southern Europe and the Caucasus Erika Olson has arrived in Azerbaijan.
Olson will hold talks with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and other Azerbaijani officials, the U.S. embassy in Baku said in a report.
"Deputy Assistant Secretary Olson will emphasize that the United States is committed to promoting a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous future for the South Caucasus region," the diplomatic mission said.
Olson will also discuss issues relating to U.S. assistance with the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Earlier this week, Olson visited Armenia, where she had a number of meetings, including with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
